Introduction:
It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically for the patients. How can we guide someone on a path we have never been on? It will be a different experience but the same rules will apply. As a Health care professional our experience will speak to our clients through our convictions. If I am convinced I can convince others.
I need improvement in all three areas but I would focus on physically. Physically I am not where I want to be. It is challenging to find the time to exercise like I want to. One goal I have for myself is being able to instruct exercise classes. I was there, but my consistency was not. I am currently working on this goal because it is my desire to help others get physically fit and in good health.
Assessment:
Assessing my health in each domain is critical to accomplishing my goals. If I do not know where I am how will I know what to do to get to where I want to be? I have assessed myself and I have discovered that I am on the right track, I have made a lot of progressed and I just need to stay consistent. Spiritually I have flourished to the point that my spiritual connection guides my life and brings me health. I would rate myself at an 8 because no matter good you are you can always improve. Psychologically I have leaped in the right direction. I rate myself at a 6. I have more control over my actions. I make intentional decisions to better my life. I am not controlled by my emotions and I have gained control over the chattering mind. I do not just react but I have a subtle mind that moves into calm abiding, knowing where my emotions are and understanding how to proceed. Physically I have a strong desire to exercise and eat right. I rate myself at a 5. I know what to do and I have made preparations to do so. I just moved so I am looking for a good gym to join. In the mean time I have a great path to walk and so I do. I said I would start to take me time and exercise 30 minutes 3 times a week. I have started and I feel great.
Goal development:
Goals I have set for myself would include physically being able to instruct an exercise class. Psychologically developing my organizational skills to develop organized children. Also to intellectually grow, understanding more and on a greater level. Spiritually to come closer to my maker and being more like him every day.
Practices for personal health:
How I plan to achieve my goals. Physically through 30 minutes of working out 3 times a week, Walking and running, lifting weights 2 times a week and joining an exercise class. Spiritually meditating everyday in the word of God and seeking to understand God better through practicing his values showing love to everyone. Psychologically developing my organizational skills through mind exercises reading, and listening to experts on organization.
Commitment:
I am committed to accomplishing my goals. In the next six months I will reassess myself by jotting down my goals and posting them. In six months I will look at the progress I have made or lack of progress. Then I will reevaluate each goal and make new ones according to the point I have made it to. Realizing that if I have made progress I should still applaud myself and go on.
